Our Official Opening

Mayor Councillor Mrs. Lesley Dedman declared Twynham Primary School officially open on Thursday 20th September. After several years of close collaboration with Twynham Learning, parents and the Local Authority, there was a shared sense of achievement in the knowledge that the children of Christchurch will benefit from a brand new, state-of-the-art building and a superb team of teachers and support staff, led by Headteacher, Jon Chapple.

Gareth Morris, Chief Executive Officer of Twynham Learning, was delighted with the opening, as the new provision exemplifies all that Twynham Learning stands for:

"At Twynham Learning we are proud to have worked with our local community to put in place a world class provision for the children and families of Christchurch. Twynham Primary will continue to grow and shine and provide equality and opportunity for all. It will work closely with the Twynham Learning family of schools to ensure that pupils get the very best provision available. We are certain that Twynham Primary will be a great success!"

From Twynham Learning, Dr. Terry Fish, former Executive Headteacher, made a speech in which he said the successful outcome was reached through the determination and cooperation of so many dedicated to seeing the vision realised.

The facilities really are outstanding. In addition to the first class building, the outside spaces are well-planned, peaceful and stimulating. The children are able to enjoy an all-weather sports pitch, wild meadow, extensive playing field, gardening area and, thanks to a very generous donation from the Parents Association, some very popular sustainable play trail structures.

Mr. Chapple commented: "The new school is an amazing opportunity. I feel very proud to be part of such a professional and committed team responsible for the whole project. It is an exciting start for a school with a bright future ahead of it."

Ten year old Jake said, "I love the new school, we have so much space to learn and play" and seven year old Lola added "being able to walk to school with my friends is brilliant, we are really lucky and I love having a library at last!"
