SCHOOL NEWS & Key Dates
HEADTEACHER MESSAGE
It feels as though this has been the quickest half term ever! Five weeks never quite seems long enough to squeeze everything in, but we are delighted to be ending on a real high with our House Day celebrations. A huge thank you from Mr Moody and me for your unbelievable generosity. Please know that your donations are going to a truly fantastic cause.
Mrs Welford is already well underway with her Forest Schools training, and from next term we will begin purchasing the equipment we need to launch the programme fully in September. We are so excited to build something genuinely transformative for the children, in partnership with our wonderful PTFA.
The summer term promises to be full of fabulous learning and fun, and we look forward to welcoming you all back in a couple of weeks.
Wishing you all a wonderful Easter!
Mrs Hunter
YEAR 3 CHINESE COOKERY
In History, we have been learning about China and ‘The Shang Dynasty’ .
We cooked and tasted egg fried rice and a vegetable stir fry, working together to prepare and fry the ingredients. We tasted the dishes with chopsticks, and some children tried food they had never had before, such as mushrooms and cooked peppers!
We had a great time!

NETBALL COUNTY QUALIFIER TOURNAMENT
We held the Year 5 & 6 Netball County Qualifier Tournament on 19th March. Seven Year 6 girls proudly represented TPS, competing in a total of five matches.
The team had a slow start, losing their first three games, but showed great determination and resilience as the tournament progressed. Their performance improved with each match, demonstrating strong teamwork and growing confidence on the court.
By the end of the competition, their efforts paid off as they secured an impressive 4th place overall. Well done to all the players for their hard work and commitment throughout the tournament!

YEAR 2 WOODLAND WEDNESDAY
This week marked our final Woodland Wednesday of the spring term, and what a lovely session it was. The Year 2 children had a wonderful time toasting marshmallows over the campfire, enjoying the warmth and learning how to stay safe around the fire.
They also took part in a nature hunt with Mrs Wellford, exploring the woodland and discovering a variety of natural treasures along the way. It was a fantastic opportunity for the children to build their observation skills and deepen their appreciation for the outdoors.
A perfect way to round off our spring term Woodland Wednesdays.

WOODLAND WEDNESDAY DATES
Please see below the Woodland Wednesday Schedule for the Summer Term.
On their specific dates, the children will need to wear appropriate clothing, including waterproofs if the weather is due to be wet – please be aware they may get mucky, so old clothing would be best, and some spare clothes to change into following the activity in the event of wet weather is also advised.

STORMBREAK
Stormbreak Shine pathways are short (between 15 and 30 minute) sessions, which can be followed at home to help support a range of needs.
If you would like further information or to have access to any of the pathways below, please email senco@twynhamprimary.com, stating your child(ren)’s name and which pathway(s) you would like more information/access to
.
BREAKFAST AND AFTER SCHOOL CLUB BOOKING
Booking is compulsory for both Breakfast Club and Afterschool Club. Due to limited spaces, a place must be booked before the session begins.
Bookings can be made via your child’s Arbor account and must be completed at least 48 hours in advance of the session.
SCIENCE FAIR
This year, TPS will be hosting our annual Science Fair, on Friday 17th April 2026. The Science Fair is an opportunity for our students to showcase their scientific knowledge and creativity by designing and presenting their own science projects.
Although your children do not have to take part in the Science Fair, it would be fantastic to see as many of them taking part as possible. This is a great chance for them to practice scientific thinking and learn valuable skills such as research, experimentation, and presentation. It is also an opportunity for them to share their enthusiasm for science with their peers and the wider community.
This year’s theme is "Curiosity: What’s your question?". This theme celebrates the inquisitive nature of science, encouraging children to ask, explore, and find answers to questions about the world around them. We would like to invite all the children to work in groups of 3 or 4 and design, test, analyze and present a project that uses scientific methods to solve a problem.
We would like to invite all parents to attend the Science Fair and support our young scientists. We are sure that you will be impressed by the creativity and intelligence of our students and the hard work they have put into their projects. Parents / Carers are invited to come and view the Science Fair on Friday 17th April - 2:30pm and 3:05pm in the main hall.
Children will be given guidelines in school, but this is a project to be completed at home. Much of the work will be self-directed although adults are encouraged to work with and support the children.
Please note the following:
-
No Volcanoes
-
No tasting of any kind including the giving out of sweets etc
-
No chemicals of any kind
-
Nothing that gets hot including the use of kettles or flames
-
No electricity from mains plugs – battery-powered only
-
No sharp objects or tools, e.g. knives, needles, saws
Your child’s project can be about anything they are interested in. Please see the email from Mrs Firth which details some project ideas. Thank you in advance for your support.

THE MAGIC FARAWAY TREE
Whatever your views on Enid Blyton, she remains one of the most successful and widely read children’s authors of all time. With over 600 million books sold worldwide and translations into more than 90 languages, her stories have inspired generations of young readers. Spanning adventure, mystery, fantasy, school stories and tales for younger children, her work has long been a cornerstone of childhood reading.
A new live-action film adaptation of The Magic Faraway Tree is set to be released on 27th March. For many parents and grandparents, these stories will hold a special place in their own childhood memories. The upcoming Easter break could be a lovely opportunity to visit your local cinema and share this magical world with your children—perhaps sparking a new generation of readers and a fresh love for these classic tales.
