SCHOOL NEWS & Key Dates

HEADTEACHER MESSAGE

We've enjoyed a week of wonderful weather—typically, just in time for it to disappear over the bank holiday weekend! It's been lovely to see the children in their summer uniforms. Many of them have been sensibly wearing hats too, which is especially important as our playground doesn’t offer much shade.

I’ve included a couple of photos for you. One is of the collaborative artwork the children created on House Day. Each child painted a lollipop stick, which we've brought together on a large canvas. It’s now brightening up our library with its cheerful colours and unique patterns—a real celebration of creativity and community.

Over the Easter break, we also spent some time giving one of our rooms a bit of a makeover. It’s now known as The Snug, and it’s already proving to be a really valuable space. We’ve used it for small group nurture sessions, parent meetings, reading time with the children, and as a calm, welcoming space for counselling sessions and informal parent conversations.  A massive shout out to our wonderful PTFA for sourcing the gorgeous yellow chair and for financing our vision – all your hard work in raising  money for our school community is so appreciated. THANK YOU!

Wishing you all a lovely and restful bank holiday weekend.

GIRLS FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT TOURNAMENT

On Wednesday 1st May, a group of enthusiastic Year 5 and 6 girls took part in a football development tournament at Chapel Gate. With only four schools in attendance, the girls had the opportunity to play longer matches, which gave them valuable game time and plenty of chances to develop their skills.

Throughout the afternoon, the team showed fantastic teamwork and excellent communication on the pitch. It was a great opportunity for the players to build confidence, support one another, and enjoy the spirit of the game in a friendly, encouraging environment. Well done to everyone who took part!

LONDON MARATHON

RH

MARATHON COMPLETE -

Now the dust has settled I thought I would provide a final update…

Wow! What an incredible experience - London Marathon truly lived up to expectations!  2025 was a world record breaking year with 56,640 finishers!

Despite the heat (which made it a whole lot tougher) I managed to get the job done with a new PB of 03:41:58.

On the fundraising front, together we have raised £3104 which is 118% of my target.  I’m truly grateful for all of your donations!! Thank you!

If you would like to, you can still donate.  Please go to my JustGiving page by clicking here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/re-horton-1729593489934?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=EM

Here's our story;

In September, our world changed forever. My brave 4-year-old son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. In the space of a few hours, our little boy went from being carefree to facing a lifetime of blood sugar checks, insulin injections, and constant monitoring.

In his own words, he just wants a cure so he can be “normal like the rest of my family.” And as parents, we would give anything to make that happen. But until that day comes, we want to do everything we can to support him and the millions of others living with this condition.

That’s why I’m running the London Marathon—26.2 miles of sweat, pain, and determination—all in the hope of raising as much money as possible for Breakthrough T1D, which funds vital research and support for people with Type 1 Diabetes.

We are still coming to terms with this diagnosis, learning every day how to navigate this new reality. But one thing we do know is that nobody should have to do this alone. Your donation, no matter how big or small, could help fund breakthroughs in treatment, better technology, and ultimately, a cure.

If you can, please donate. Do it for my son. Do it for every child, parent, and family affected by Type 1 Diabetes. Do it so that one day, no one will have to hear the words, “Your child has diabetes.”

Thank you!
